The road-sign framing sets the image up as a directional marker. A road sign is read at a glance, and this design asks to be read the same way, with its subject placed front and centre. The SP-972 reference sits in the name as a catalogue number, marking the design as one of a numbered set of regional artworks.

Meaning & Symbolism

Brazil is the largest country in South America, and a road sign is one of the most familiar ways of marking place. It tells a traveller where they are and what lies ahead. Setting a country on a signpost turns geography into direction, pointing toward a landscape and the culture that grew within it. The design's attached themes, Geography and Culture, sit alongside Brazil itself, so the artwork reads as both a place and the people and traditions associated with it.

Life on the Mixing Glass

A mixing glass is lifted, stirred and poured, so the design is seen up close and in motion. Because this glass tapers toward its base, the artwork rises up a tall, narrowing surface, meeting the eye as the drink is poured and again as it is served. It is the kind of signpost that belongs on the bar cart, marking the way for whoever is pouring. Give it to someone who likes a route with a little character, and let the Brazil sign do the talking.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-972-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SP972-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793693118
