Its composition follows that logic: a single, clearly organised image rather than a busy scene, with the country's name and reference code carrying the information. The design is stylised rather than pictorial, so the eye reads its outline and structure first and its detail second.

Meaning & Symbolism

The design centres on Brazil's national identity and regional culture, and it does so without commentary on history or politics. The code SP-995 places it within a structured series of regional designs. In Brazilian usage, SP is the standard abbreviation for the state of São Paulo, so the reference points to a specific place within the country as well as to the country as a whole. Road signs, by their nature, direct travellers somewhere, and that idea of pointing toward a place sits comfortably with a piece about national identity.

Made for the Way You Hold a Glass

A road sign is read from a step back, but this artwork has to be read up close, wrapped around a tall, curved surface that turns in the hand as you drink. The narrower base of this mixing glass puts the design where your fingers naturally rest, so the lower part of the image comes into view first and the rest rises with the glass. It suits a lively round of drinks, or a cheeky gift for someone who likes their sign to point straight at their favourite country.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-995-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SP995-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793693784
