tw-thwch182-taiwan-road-sign-white-coffee-mug
TW THWch182 (Taiwan) (Road Sign) White Coffee Mug

TW THWch182 (Taiwan) (Road Sign) White Coffee Mug

This design takes the look of a Taiwanese road route marker and reduces it to its two essentials: a single Chinese character and a route number.

Visual Elements & Composition

Black dominates a white field, with the black share sitting at roughly one fifth of the design. A black rounded rectangle frames the character 彰, and the numerals 182 sit beside it in the same flat, solid black. Nothing else competes for attention. The layout is a plain rectangle with a strong, quiet hierarchy, so the eye moves from the character to the number and back again. The flat vector style keeps every edge crisp, which suits a surface that is seen at a glance.

Meaning & Symbolism

Route markers are read quickly by drivers, and this one follows that logic. The character 彰 identifies the place, and 182 identifies the road that passes through it. Together they form a compact piece of wayfinding, the kind of sign that tells a traveller exactly where they are. The design is modern in its visual language, owing to its clean geometry and restrained palette, while its subject belongs to the everyday infrastructure of Taiwan.

Turning the Sign in Your Hands

A mug is turned as it is lifted, so the design appears in pieces: the framed character first, then the numerals as the cup rotates. The black-and-white contrast reads clearly at arm's length and across a table. Set on a desk beside a notebook, it looks like a small roadside marker that has been brought indoors, ready for the next coffee.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/tw-thwch182-taiwan-road-sign-white-coffee-mug-GMY-MUG-TWTHW-11OZ-1FKQ5-front.webp?v=1793909060
