The frame is a plain, even band, with no shading or ornament, so the sign reads at a glance. Inside it sits the character 桃 above or beside the numeral 20, both in solid black. The layout is centred and symmetrical, and the flat vector style leaves every shape crisp and unbroken.

Meaning & Symbolism

Route markers like this one are the everyday language of Taiwan's roads, where a shape, a colour and a short code tell a driver which route they are on. The character 桃 refers to Taoyuan, the county whose name carries the peach, and the numeral identifies the route itself. The design therefore pairs a regional identity with a road number, the two pieces of information a sign exists to give. Its restraint mirrors the practical design of the originals, which were built to be read quickly from a moving vehicle.

Turning the Sign in Your Hands

A mug invites the eye to travel around its body, so the sign appears and disappears as the cup is turned. The rounded frame follows the curve of the wall, and the characters stay legible from the handle side as well as from the front. Pour a morning coffee or an evening tea, and the route number keeps you company with every sip, a small, cheeky reminder that the road is never far away.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/tw-thwty20-taiwan-road-sign-white-coffee-mug-GMY-MUG-TWTHW-11OZ-1FJHF-front.webp?v=1793903587
