tw-thwty38-taiwan-road-sign-white-coffee-mug
TW THWty38 (Taiwan) (Road Sign) White Coffee Mug

TW THWty38 (Taiwan) (Road Sign) White Coffee Mug

TW THWty38 is a flat, minimalist road-sign design built from one black Chinese character and two numerals on a clean white field.

Visual Elements & Composition

White dominates the design, covering roughly 88% of the surface, with black taking the remaining 12%. At the centre sits the black character 桃 inside a rounded rectangle border, and the numerals 38 sit beside it. The rectangular frame and rounded corners give the piece the outline of a route marker, and the restrained palette and crisp vector shapes keep every element sharp and readable.

Meaning & Symbolism

The character 桃 means "peach," and it appears in Taiwanese place names, most notably Taoyuan. Set inside a bordered panel with the number 38, it reads as a signpost identifier, the kind of label that tells a traveller where they are and which route they are on. The design draws its meaning from that convention of Taiwanese road signage, turning a functional marker into a graphic emblem of the island.

On the Mug

A mug is held in the hand and turned slowly while it is drunk, so the design is seen in pieces as the cup rotates. The white ground and single black panel keep the sign legible from every angle, and the character and numerals come into view one at a time, like markers passed on a long drive. Each sip brings the route marker back into focus.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/tw-thwty38-taiwan-road-sign-white-coffee-mug-GMY-MUG-TWTHW-11OZ-1FJHY-front.webp?v=1793903641
