tw-thwyl111-taiwan-road-sign-white-coffee-mug
TW THWyl111 (Taiwan) (Road Sign) White Coffee Mug

TW THWyl111 (Taiwan) (Road Sign) White Coffee Mug

This design borrows the language of a Taiwanese road sign: a single Chinese character set above a route-style number, all in black on white.

Visual Elements & Composition

White fills most of the frame, with black taking up roughly a fifth of the design. A rounded rectangular border holds the whole composition, and the flat vector shapes are clean and unfussy. The character 雲 sits large and central, and the numeral 111 runs beneath it in the same stark black. Nothing decorative competes with them. The layout reads at a glance, the way signage is meant to.

Meaning & Symbolism

The character 雲 means cloud, and its pairing with a route number gives the sign a quiet double meaning: a marker for travel set against an image of open sky. Route-style numbering is the visual grammar of roads and highways, so the design treats Taiwan's road network as a subject in its own right. The modern, minimal treatment places the piece firmly in the present, where signs are designed to be understood in a single glance.

On the Mug

A mug is turned in the hand, so the sign's rounded border wraps around the curve and the character rotates into view as you lift it. The black and white contrast stays legible from across a table, and the numerals sit squarely at the point where your eye lands when you raise the cup. Pour a coffee and the road sign becomes a small daily ritual, a reminder of a place with a clear sense of direction.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/tw-thwyl111-taiwan-road-sign-white-coffee-mug-GMY-MUG-TWTHW-11OZ-1FK3J-front.webp?v=1793906373
