The shape is a plain rectangle with no ornament, so the type carries the entire image. The number 118 is the largest element, with E Townline and the CR abbreviation set smaller around it. The layout is simple, with the route number reading first.

Meaning & Symbolism

A blade sign is the projecting marker that names a road at a junction, so drivers can spot it from the side as they approach. The CR tag places the road in the county network, and the number 118 gives it a route identity of its own. The Townline name points to the roads that mark the edges between communities. Together the elements make a nostalgic nod to the local wayfinding of rural New York.

Framing the Artwork on This Mug

A mug is turned in the hand, so the blade sign moves across the eye as the cup rotates, with the route number crossing the front and the lettering carried around the curve. The solid green field keeps its shape through the turn, and the handle sits to one side without cutting into the sign. It is a good companion for a kitchen shelf or a desk that could use a touch of small-town character.

https://gomugyourself.com/products/wayne-county-118-ny-blade-sign-new-york-road-sign-white-coffee-mug
