The rounded rectangle is the single form in the piece, and the route number 154 sits at the centre beside the CR prefix. The place name is set above it, so the layout reads top to bottom in the order a driver would take it in.

Meaning & Symbolism

Blade signs of this kind are the everyday wayfinding markers of New York's towns and rural roads. The CR prefix marks a county route, and the number 154 identifies this particular road within the county network. The place name ties the marker to a specific community, so the sign stands for local navigation as much as it does for the county's road system.

Turned in the Hand

A mug is turned in the hand, so the blade sign passes across the curve of the cup and comes into view a section at a time. The rounded shape suits the ceramic's wall, and the strong contrast between green and white keeps the 154 numerals clear as the cup is lifted for a drink.

https://gomugyourself.com/products/wayne-county-154-ny-blade-sign-new-york-road-sign-white-coffee-mug
