wis-00-template-wisconsin-road-sign-white-coffee-mug
WIS 00 template (Wisconsin) (Road Sign) White Coffee Mug

WIS 00 template (Wisconsin) (Road Sign) White Coffee Mug

A blank Wisconsin state highway shield in black on white, set up as a template for the numbered route markers that line the state's roads.

Visual Elements & Composition

The design is a simple two-tone graphic, mostly white with a firm black outline and the numeral 00 placed at the centre of the shield. The silhouette is the key element: a shield with notched corners that sets the marker apart from other road signs. Nothing else competes for attention, so the shape and its proportions carry the whole image.

Meaning & Symbolism

The shield is the recognisable identity of Wisconsin's state highway system. Its shape tells a driver that the road belongs to the state network, and the route number inside is what distinguishes one road from another. Because this artwork is a template, the 00 is a placeholder: it shows the form that every route marker in the state is built on, and the shape is what the design is really about.

On the Mug

A mug is turned in the hand, so the shield is seen as a band that rotates past the eye rather than a flat sign at a distance. The bold outline keeps its silhouette clear as the cup turns, and the central numeral is easy to pick out when the mug is held at the table. It makes a neat, understated nod to the roads of Wisconsin, especially for anyone who has spent time driving them.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/wis-00-template-wisconsin-road-sign-white-coffee-mug-29208740706073975351-front.webp?v=1793578982
