The 118th Infantry Regiment is a United States Army infantry unit that has served since World War I. Formed in 1917, it played a significant role during the American Expeditionary Forces' intervention in Siberia following World War I and was later deployed to the Philippines for seven years between 1920 and 1927. The regiment saw extensive combat during World War II in the European theatre, particularly in the Ardennes offensive, also known as the Battle of the Bulge, and subsequently took part in the occupation of Germany until 1946. Post-WWII, it was assigned to various divisions before being deactivated in 1953 during a reorganization of the U.S. Army. In 2018, as part of the Army's ongoing restructuring efforts, the 118th Infantry Regiment was re-designated within the Texas Army National Guard. The regiment has been decorated with numerous campaign streamers and unit awards throughout its history.
