The 2nd Armored Division, often referred to as the "Hood's Texas", is a formation of the United States Army. Established on July 1, 1940, during World War II, it played significant roles in both Europe and North Africa campaigns. Post-war, it was deactivated in 1945 but reactivated in 1956 during the Cold War. The division is renowned for its tank units and heavy mechanized infantry. Throughout its history, the 2nd Armored Division has been stationed at various locations worldwide, participating in operations such as Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. It is currently based in Fort Hood, Texas.
