The 44th Infantry Regiment is a unit of the United States Army under the command of the Arkansas National Guard. Established on March 9, 1885, it has a rich history spanning over 136 years. Originally formed as the 4th U.S. Volunteer Infantry during the Indian Wars, the regiment was later redesignated as the 44th Infantry in 1921. Throughout its existence, the 44th Infantry Regiment has seen action in various conflicts, including World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and more recently, the Iraq War. The regiment is organized into a number of battalions, each with unique roles and responsibilities within the Arkansas National Guard structure.
