The 69th New York Infantry Regiment is a military unit that served in the United States Army during the American Civil War. Formed primarily by Irish-American immigrants, it was also known as the "Fighting Sixty-Ninth" and "The Irish Brigade." Known for their valorous actions, they fought in some of the war's major battles, including Gettysburg and Antietam. The regiment was disbanded after the Civil War but has since been reestablished as a National Guard unit known as the 69th Infantry (Militia) Regiment (New York).
