Desert Storm
"Desert Storm" is a military codename for Operation Iraqi Freedom (1990–1991), an international coalition operation led by the United States and Gulf Cooperation Council nations to expel Saddam Hussein's Iraqi forces from Kuwait. The operation, primarily conducted in the Iraqi desert, began on January 17, 1991, with airstrikes and ended on February 28, 1991, following the decisive ground assault by coalition forces known as Operation Desert Sabre. "Desert Storm" was notable for its quick success, short duration, and extensive use of precision-guided munitions, earning it recognition as a significant turning point in modern warfare tactics. The conflict resulted in Iraq's withdrawal from Kuwait and marked the end of Saddam Hussein's aggression against neighboring countries.
