The Flag of Umbria is a symbol representing the Italian region of the same name. It consists of two equal horizontal bands of green (top) and white (bottom), with a yellow fasces (a bundle of rods tied together around an axe) centered in the middle of the white band. This design reflects the historical coat of arms of the region, which has been used since the Middle Ages. The flag was officially adopted on July 16, 1978, as a regional symbol by the Statuto d'Autonomia (Statute of Autonomy) of Umbria. It is commonly flown during regional events and celebrations to express pride in Umbrian identity.
