The Soyuz TM-26 was a crewed spaceflight mission that took place as part of the Soyuz program, a Russian human spaceflight initiative. This specific flight, launched on November 15, 1995, marked the return of a permanent human presence to the Mir space station following its construction. The crew consisted of Sergei Avdeyev, Jean-Pierre Haignere, and Per Wirtanen, who replaced the long-duration Mir residents serving up until that point. The Soyuz TM-26 spacecraft returned to Earth on March 18, 1996, completing a 147-day mission. This mission was significant as it marked the beginning of an uninterrupted human presence on board the Mir station for more than seven years.
