Soyuz TM-31 (Soyuz Programme) The Soyuz TM-31 was a crewed spaceflight mission that took place as part of the Soviet Union's Soyuz program. Launched on October 15, 1992, from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, this flight marked the first long-duration expedition to the Mir space station. The primary crew consisted of Takhtayan, Usachev, and Solovyev. The mission lasted for 178 days, returning to Earth on April 20, 1993. Soyuz TM-31 was a significant milestone in the development and utilization of the Soyuz spacecraft as a workhorse for crewed space missions, paving the way for various manned operations to the International Space Station (ISS) and beyond.
