World Map - Ruysch (1508) (Map) The World Map from 1508, attributed to the Flemish cartographer Bernhard von Richthofen, also known as Rodolphus Agricola or Hieronymus de Cock under the name of Ruysch, presents one of the most influential and widely disseminated depictions of the world during the Early Modern period. This map is an example of the T-O type, with the central part representing Europe, Africa positioned below it to the south, and Asia and America at the top, albeit indistinctly and incomplete. The map offers a valuable historical perspective on geographical knowledge during the Renaissance era, reflecting both advances in cartography and persistent myths about the world's structure and size.
