The 12th Infantry Regiment is a unit within the United States Army's infantry branch. Established on June 30, 1869, during the post-Civil War reorganization of the U.S. Army, it was one of the original ten Regular Army Infantry regiments. The regiment has seen action in numerous conflicts throughout its history, including the Indian Wars, Spanish-American War, Philippine-American War, World War I, World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War. Notably, it was the first American unit to reach the Rhine River during World War II. Today, the 12th Infantry Regiment is part of the 4th Infantry Division, with its headquarters located at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The regiment's nickname is the "Outlaw Regiment," and its motto is "All for Others."
