Description/Blazon
A shield blazoned: Vert, in orle thirty-three plates. Attached below the shield is a silver scroll inscribed "MEN OF WAR" in green letters.
Symbolism
The green and white shield represents the Armored Force. The thirty-three plates denote the unit's number.
Background
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 33d Armored Regiment on March 26, 1942. It was redesignated for the 33d Tank Battalion on July 28, 1949, and again for the 33d Medium Tank Battalion on September 20, 1954. The insignia was further redesignated for the 33d Tank Battalion on April 3, 1956, and then for the 33d Armor Regiment on July 1, 1958. It was redesignated for the 33d Cavalry Regiment effective June 28, 2005.
