Description/Blazon
On a black olla with a black border, a red bull skull.

Symbolism
The patch's olla shape represents the 34th Division’s origin and training at Camp Cody, New Mexico, in October 1917. The red bull skull signifies the surrounding dry, desert-like environment. Black symbolizes durability, firmness, and stability, while red represents courage and action.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally approved for the 34th Division on 28 June 1922. It was redesignated for the 34th Command Headquarters (Divisional), Iowa National Guard on 16 October 1963, and later redesignated for the 34th Infantry Division on 10 February 1991. The insignia was amended to include a border and update the symbolism.
