Description/Blazon
A design blazoned: Or, on a chevron reversed wavy counter wavy Azure, two chevronels reversed wavy counter wavy Gules; in chief, two mullets of the same. Attached to the base is a red scroll inscribed "INVICTUS SCUTUM" in gold letters. The shield is supported by a green dragon detailed in silver gray, with its head turned to the sinister, forelimb and wings at the top, and its tail wrapped around the bottom of the scroll.
Symbolism
Cobalt blue and golden yellow are the colors of the Chemical branch. The chevron reversed wavy symbolizes the blending of different substances, representing a chemical mixture. The reversed chevron signifies the Roman numeral for five, reflecting the number of battle campaigns the unit has participated in. The two stars denote the Meritorious Unit Citations received during the Korean Conflict. The dragon, a longstanding symbol of the Chemical Corps, supports the shield, and the motto "Invictus Scutum" translates to "Invincible Shield."
Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved effective September 16, 2011.
