It was officially adopted on November 25, 1999. The flag features three horizontal stripes: the top and bottom stripes are white, while the middle one is red. A golden crescent moon with six stars is positioned in the upper left corner of the flag. The white stripes symbolize purity, honesty, and sincerity. The red stripe represents bravery, courage, and struggle. The crescent moon and stars are traditional Islamic symbols, reflecting the predominantly Muslim population of Central Sulawesi. This design was selected after a public competition in 1998, with the winning design submitted by Mr. Bachtiar Effendi.
