L.T. Wigfall, Brigadier General CSA 002 (U.S. Civil War) L.T. Wigfall served as a Brigadier General in the Confederate States Army during the U.S. Civil War. Born on February 5, 1816, in North Carolina, Wigfall was an influential political figure before the war, having represented Texas and Louisiana in the United States Congress. He played a significant role in the secession debates that led to the formation of the Confederate States of America. Throughout his military career, Wigfall participated in several key battles such as the Battle of Manassas and the Seven Days Battles, before being wounded at the Battle of Malvern Hill. After recovering from his injuries, he served under General Robert E. Lee during the Maryland Campaign. Post-war, Wigfall returned to politics, serving as a U.S. Senator from Louisiana until his death in 1874.
