The US 93rd Infantry Division, part of the United States Army, is a ground combat formation that played significant roles during World War II and the Korean War. Established on August 15, 1942, at Camp Maxey, Texas, it was one of the first American divisions to land in Europe during the D-Day invasion on June 6, 1944. During World War II, the division fought across France, Germany, and Belgium, contributing to the liberation of several key cities, including Metz, Aachen, and Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge. The division was inactivated on December 20, 1945. Reactivated in 1950 during the Korean War, the US 93rd Infantry Division saw combat against North Korean and Chinese forces near the Chosin Reservoir and throughout the Korean Peninsula until its inactivation in June 1954 following an armistice agreement. The division is also known as the "Medal of Honor" Division, having produced more recipients of this highest military decoration than any other U.S. division during World War II.
