USCGC Rush WHEC 723 (U.S. Coast Guard) The USCGC Rush (WHEC 723) is a high-endurance cutter ship operated by the United States Coast Guard. Commissioned in 1966, the Rush is part of the Hamilton-class cutters, a class designed for long-range patrol and maritime law enforcement missions, as well as search and rescue operations. The vessel measures approximately 378 feet (115 meters) in length with a beam of 46 feet (14 meters). It can achieve speeds up to 21 knots and has a crew complement of around 120 personnel. The ship's name honors four men from the U.S. Coast Guard who were lost in the line of duty: Chief Petty Officers John D. Rush, Edward J. Rush, Frank M. Rush, and Richard B. Rush.
