VMFA 122 Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 122 (USMC) Black Coffee Mug

VMFA 122, also known as the Green Knights, is a U.S. Marine Corps fighter attack squadron that operates under the jurisdiction of Marine Aircraft Group 14 and Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW) I. Stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort in South Carolina, this aviation unit primarily operates the F/A-18 Hornet fleet, although it has also flown other aircraft such as the A-6 Intruder and AV-8B Harrier II. The squadron was established on November 15, 1943, during World War II and has since participated in numerous conflicts, including the Korean War, Vietnam War, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. VMFA 122's mission includes conducting close air support, air defense, and fleet air defense in support of Marine Expeditionary Units (MEUs) and Marine Air Ground Task Forces (MAGTFs). The squadron's emblem features a green griffin with a sword and shield to symbolize its readiness for battle and protection of the marines on the ground.
