The 104th Infantry Regiment is a historic infantry unit of the United States Army. Established during World War I on August 5, 1917, it was one of the original National Guard units called into federal service with the mobilization of the U.S. Army in 1917. The regiment saw combat in various battles throughout Europe, including the Meuse-Argonne Offensive and the St. Mihiel Offensive. After World War I, the unit reverted to state control and was federally recognized again during World War II. In the post-war era, it has been called up for various state emergencies and training exercises, with elements serving in Korea and Vietnam. The 104th Infantry Regiment is currently part of the New York Army National Guard.
