Description/Blazon A gold trumpet with the mouthpiece facing upward. The trumpet is entwined vertically with a cord and surmounts a green scroll that curves on the left and right, looping below the trumpet. The scroll is inscribed with "BRAVE" on the left, "RIFLES" on the right, and the numeral "3" centered on the lower segment, all in gold-colored metal.

Symbolism The green scroll symbolizes the regiment's original green uniform facings. The gold trumpet is derived from the crest of the coat of arms.

Background The distinctive unit insignia was initially approved for the 3rd Cavalry Regiment on November 25, 1922. It was amended to revise the description on January 5, 1923. The insignia was redesignated for the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment on December 18, 1951, and then redesignated for the 3rd Cavalry Regiment effective November 16, 2011, with an updated description.
