The 4 Evacuation Hospital, also known as the Fourth Evacuation Hospital, is a historical unit of the United States Army Medical Department. Established during World War II, its primary role was to provide emergency medical care and treatment for wounded soldiers in field conditions. The hospital was organized at Camp Lee, Virginia, on August 25, 1941, and saw active service across several theaters, including North Africa, Sicily, Italy, Southern France, and the Philippines. It played a crucial role in the D-Day landings and cared for over 65,000 patients during its service. The unit was deactivated on December 29, 1945, but its significant contributions to military medicine are still recognized today.
