The shield is blue, representing Infantry, with a gold bend drawn from the arms of Alsace, where the Regiment had significant service in World War I. The ragged tree trunk symbolizes the Meuse-Argonne operation. The canton, featuring a scaling ladder, denotes the Regiment's connection to the 6th Infantry.
