The 57th Infantry Regiment is a unit of the United States Army that has played an important role in various military conflicts throughout history. Originally formed in 1917 during World War I, it served primarily as a training regiment for new soldiers. In 1942, the regiment was reorganized and sent to the Pacific Theater where it participated in significant battles such as Guam, Saipan, and Tinian. The 57th Infantry Regiment saw action again during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953, particularly during the Battle of Pork Chop Hill. In 1963, it was deactivated but reactivated in 2006 as part of the 2nd Infantry Division's 3rd Brigade Combat Team. Today, the regiment continues to serve as a key component of the U.S. Army, with its headquarters located at Camp Humphreys, South Korea. The 57th Infantry Regiment is characterized by its dedication to service and its long history of courageous actions in defense of freedom.
