The Civil Air Patrol (CAP) is a volunteer civilian auxiliary of the United States Air Force. Established in 1941 as part of the mobilization for World War II, CAP operates under Title 10 U.S. Code as an auxiliary of the Air Force and serves three primary missions: Aerospace Education, Emergency Services, and Cadet Programs. Aerospace Education aims to foster interest in aviation and space-related careers while promoting a strong national defense. Emergency Services include search and rescue operations, disaster relief support, and homeland security. The Cadet Program provides youth between the ages of 12 and 21 with character development, leadership training, and education in aerospace.
