The Flag of Irkutsk is the official symbol representing the administrative center of Irkutsk Oblast, a federal subject of Russia. Adopted on October 29, 1997, it consists of three equal horizontal bands of green, white, and blue, with the city's coat of arms placed centrally on the white band. The flag's colors symbolize nature (green), peace (white), and sky and water (blue). The coat of arms, featuring a double-headed eagle holding a banner inscribed with "Irkutsk," represents the historical connection to the Russian Empire. This design was chosen through a public competition and replaced the previous flag, which consisted of a red field with the city's emblem. The current flag of Irkutsk is used on official occasions, by local government bodies, and as a symbol of civic pride among its residents.
