Launched on September 26, 1976, Soyuz 31 was a crewed flight to the Salyut 5 space station. The primary objectives of this mission were to resupply the station and conduct various scientific experiments. Unfortunately, the spacecraft experienced a malfunction upon re-entry, resulting in an emergency landing in Kazakhstan, which marked a significant setback for the Soyuz program. Despite the incident, the crew successfully evacuated without injuries.
