Soyuz TM-26 (Soyuz Space Program) Soyuz TM-26 was a flight mission under the Soviet Union's Soyuz space program. Launched on July 15, 1994, from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, this mission marked the sixth crewed journey to the Mir Space Station as part of the Intergovernmental Agreement between NASA and the Russian Space Agency (RSA). The spacecraft carried cosmonauts Vasily Tsibliyev, Aleksandr Balandin, and American astronaut Norman Thagard. This mission is significant for being the first long-duration flight by an American astronaut on a Soviet spacecraft, as well as marking the continuation of the joint efforts between NASA and RSA in manned spaceflight during that era.
