Soyuz TM-7 (Soyuz Space Programme) The Soyuz TM-7 was a spaceflight mission that was the seventh flight of the Soyuz TM spacecraft and the fourth manned mission to the Mir space station as part of the Interkosmos program. Launched on October 3, 1988, it carried cosmonauts Aleksandr Laveykin (Commander) and Anatoly Artsebarsky (Flight Engineer), along with Afghan astronaut Abdul Ahad Mohmand as a payload specialist. The mission lasted from October 5 to October 27, 1988, spending over two weeks docked at the Mir space station, during which time they conducted various scientific experiments and maintenance tasks on the station. This Soyuz TM-7 mission marked the first manned mission to the Mir space station by a cosmonaut from an Eastern Bloc country (the Soviet Union) and the first Afghan in space.
