VFA 34 1 (U.S. Navy) VFA 34, also known as the "Blue Blasters," is a United States Navy Strike-Fighter Squadron operating from the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz. The squadron's primary role involves conducting day and night precision strike operations using the F/A-18E Super Hornet aircraft. VFA 34 operates under Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 2, which deploys with the U.S. Navy's only nuclear-powered super carrier, USS Nimitz. The squadron's mission is to protect and defend the U.S. and its allies, as well as project power when necessary. VFA 34 1 refers to one of the three divisions within the VFA 34 squadron, each typically consisting of six aircraft.
