The 11th Infantry Regiment is a unit within the United States Army, serving under the Infantry Branch of the U.S. Army Ground Combat Forces. It was constituted on August 24, 1861, during the American Civil War and is one of the oldest regiments in the army. The 11th Infantry Regiment has seen active service in several significant military engagements throughout its history, including the Indian Wars, the Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and more recently in Iraq and Afghanistan. The regiment is currently a part of the 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington State. The 11th Infantry Regiment's motto is "Stay with the 11th."
