The 16 Cavalry Regiment is a U.S. Army unit that falls under the remit of the Armored Cavalry Regiments. Originally formed during the Mexican–American War, it has since participated in numerous significant conflicts, including the American Civil War, both World Wars, the Korean War, and more recently, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. The regiment is known for its expertise in reconnaissance, security, and mobility operations. Comprising several troopers with various specialized skills, the 16 Cavalry Regiment operates primarily from Fort Hood, Texas. It's one of the few remaining active cavalry regiments within the U.S. Army.
