Description
A shield blazoned: Or, a chevron ermine above an inside gauntlet Sable. Below the shield is a gold scroll inscribed "LEAD ME FORWARD" in black letters.

Symbolism
The design reflects the Regiment's connection to Michigan and pays homage to General Anthony Wayne, who significantly impacted the region's history. The ermine chevron and inside gauntlet, elements from Wayne's shield, are included in the insignia. Yellow represents Cavalry and aligns with the shoulder patch of the 65th Cavalry Division to which the Regiment belongs. The motto "Lead Me Forward" is derived from Wayne’s words when he was wounded during the capture of Stony Point, signifying leadership and perseverance.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on July 10, 1926, and was rescinded on February 17, 1959.
