The 510th Fighter Squadron is an operational unit within the United States Air Force (USAF). It falls under the jurisdiction of the 49th Fighter Wing, stationed at Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico. Historically, the squadron has been part of various air combat units since its inception during World War II. Throughout its existence, it has flown numerous aircraft types, including the P-47 Thunderbolt, F-86 Sabre, F-100 Super Sabre, and currently the F-16 Fighting Falcon. The 510th Fighter Squadron's primary mission is to provide air defense, close air support, and combat air superiority capabilities in support of joint and combined operations.
