The 828th Evacuation Hospital is a former United States Army medical facility primarily established to provide surgical care and treatment during wartime. It was activated on October 1, 1943, during World War II and served in various theaters such as New Guinea, Luzon, and Okinawa before being deactivated in February 1946. The unit was reactivated during the Korean War and saw action in Korea from 1950 to 1953, providing care for both American and allied forces. Notable events associated with this hospital include a typhoon that struck Okinawa in September 1945 and the Battle of the Pusan Perimeter in Korea. The unit was deactivated again in August 1955 but reorganized as the 828th Medical Battalion in October 1963, where it continues to serve within the U.S. Army Reserve.
