The 91st Space Wing is a unit of the United States Air Force (USAF) under Air Force Space Command (AFSPC). Its primary mission is the operation and maintenance of two GPS satellite control facilities: Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. The wing also provides satellite communications for various military and civil organizations. The 91st Space Wing was established on October 1, 1965, when the Air Defense Command redesignated its 4602nd Air Base Group at Schriever AFB as the 91st Strategic Reconnaissance Wing. The wing's mission has evolved over the years to support advancements in space-based technology and satellite operations.
