Flag of Aceh, Indonesia The Flag of Aceh is the official banner representing the autonomous province of Aceh within Indonesia. It was adopted on December 13, 2000. The flag consists of three horizontal stripes in green, white, and red. The green stripe occupies the top half of the flag, symbolizing the natural wealth of Aceh, particularly its rich agricultural lands. The white stripe, which is equal in width to the green and red ones, represents peace. The red stripe at the bottom symbolizes courage, valor, and the struggle for justice. The star centered in the white field represents Mecca, Islam's holiest city, reflecting Aceh's predominantly Muslim population. This flag design was chosen through a public competition and replaced the earlier version that included the Indonesian national emblem in the canton (upper hoist-side corner) of the flag.
