The Flag of Akiruno is the official symbol representing the city of Akiruno, located within the Tokorozawa district of Tokyo, Japan. It consists of a white field divided into three horizontal sections. The upper and lower sections are equal in size, each measuring two-thirds of the flag's height, while the central section occupies one-third of the flag's height. The central section features a stylized red maple leaf, representing Mount Takao (Takao-san), which is a significant geographical feature within Akiruno. The upper and lower sections are filled with alternating horizontal black and white stripes, reminiscent of the traditional Japanese samurai's armor pattern (Kabuto). The design of the flag reflects Akiruno's rich history, combining references to its natural landmarks and traditional culture. The flag was officially adopted on April 1st, 2006, following a process involving local residents and city officials.
