The Flag of Iwaki is the official symbol representing the city of Iwaki, located in the Fukushima prefecture of Japan. The flag consists of a white field divided diagonally into two sections by an azure saltire (a diagonal cross with arms extending to the edges of the flag). On the upper hoist-side quadrant of the flag is a red circular emblem featuring a stylized sun with six rays and three smaller concentric circles inside. The lower fly-side quadrant bears a black crane, or 'tsuru', which is an important cultural symbol in Japanese folklore. The design reflects Iwaki's history, including its coal mining industry and its connection to local mythology.
