The Flag of Loja is the official symbol representing the Province of Loja, one of the 24 provinces in Ecuador. Adopted on May 10, 1830, it consists of three horizontal bands of equal size: green, yellow, and red, with the provincial coat of arms centrally located. The green band symbolizes the lush landscapes and agriculture of Loja, while the yellow represents the sun, a significant natural resource in this region. The red band signifies courage and valor, reflecting the spirit of the people of Loja. The coat of arms features a shield divided into four quadrants. The first quadrant contains three mountains symbolizing the Andean Cordillera, while the second displays a tree representing the region's forestry. The third quadrant shows an open book and a quill pen, signifying education and learning, and the fourth depicts a wheat stalk and a sugarcane plant to represent agriculture. Above the shield is a royal crown, symbolizing sovereignty, and beneath it, a scroll inscribed with "10 de Mayo de 1830," the date of the flag's adoption. The Flag of Loja serves as a unifying symbol for the people and culture of this Ecuadorian province.
