The Flag of Novosibirsk is the official symbol representing the administrative center of Russia's Siberian Federal District, the city of Novosibirsk. Adopted on August 18, 2003, it consists of two horizontal fields: the upper field, taking up about two-thirds of the flag, is a stylized image of the Ob River, symbolizing the city's geographical location; the lower third features three gold, equal vertical bars, representing Novosibirsk's status as one of Russia's three Siberian cities with oblast (region) status. The flag reflects Novosibirsk's significant role in Russia's history and development.
