The Korean Communications Zone (KCZ) was a strategic area established by the United States Army during the Korean War (1950-1953). This zone, which extended from the 38th Parallel to the 34th Parallel along the Korean Peninsula's west coast, served as a critical communications hub for the U.S. military operations. The KCZ was primarily responsible for receiving and transmitting tactical intelligence, maintaining communication links between field units, and coordinating air and ground support. The zone also facilitated the exchange of messages with the United Nations Command, South Korean forces, and other Allied countries involved in the conflict. After the end of the Korean War, the KCZ was decommissioned, but its role in maintaining effective communication during a time of significant military conflict remains an important historical aspect of the U.S. involvement in the Korean War.
